  • Sports Relief

    Fri 18 Mar 2016

This afternoon, the whole school participated in a mile (and a bit) run down to Mrs Lander's field where the run changed to a "Steeplechase" and the children took in 5 jumps including a ditch!

Mrs Geary was on hand in the field with drinks and a quick stop and catch of breath!

Have a look at the photos to see some great action shots of the children.

  • Last Woodland Wanderers

    Tue 15 Mar 2016

It was our last Woodland Wanderer session for the year this week and we finished it off by building a Tipi, cooking hot dogs over an open fire, completing a treasure hunt and making Easter bunnies or chicks.

The fire was incredibly hard to get going but finally Grace struck the lucky match and the fire was going. We kept it going and cooked our Hot Dogs which we had in wraps.

To finish the session off, we had toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate - yum yum!!!!!

  • Tag Rugby Festival

    Mon 14 Mar 2016

What a fantastic event at Devizes Rugby Club! We came 8th out of 24 - well done all!

Many of the children were scouted too, so maybe we have a potential Johnny Wilkinson in our school?

  • Horrible Histories - Macbeth

    Fri 04 Mar 2016

Wow, what a day Thorn Class had on Friday. First the Storybox Theatre and then off to Trowbridge Arts Centre to watch Terry Deary's Macbeth. Thank you to the wonderful parents who helped us get there too!!! Have to say I think they enjoyed it as much as the children judging by the laughing coming from behind me!!!

It was an excellent performance ( unfortunately I couldn't take photos) and so funny, we would all recommend it, so go and see it - ghosts, murder, music and hilarity.

We were also very lucky because the staff at The Arts Centre gave us a spontaneous tour of an exhibition they were holding in the "cells" - wow.

A great big thank you to them as well.

  • Storybox Theatre

    Fri 04 Mar 2016

Once again, we were lucky enough to be joined by Storybox Theatre. Rob (who makes all the puppets himself) told the story of the "Snow Queen."

You could have heard a pin drop in parts with children so awe struck and absorbed in the story. The outstanding Snow Queen who stood high above Rob, surrounded by white and jewels was lit up effectively during periods of the story. As usual Rob was supported by other characters, Kai and Gerda, the little robber girl and the Flower Lady and the story was brilliantly played out to our mesmerised children.

One Year 1 was overheard saying "this is absolutely amazing!" I think she speaks for us all!

  • Woodland Wanderers

    Wed 02 Mar 2016

Our fourth session of Woodland Wanderers was touch and go with the weather! A band of rain was due to settle on us for most of the day - would we or wouldn't we!!??

At lunchtime many of the children decided that the weather was getting better, and it did, so....

    Off we went.

Once we were in the woods, we read a story called "Oliver's Wish." It was about a boy who had bad dreams. We talked about how some of us also have bad dreams too.

Some of us made dreamcatchers so that we could hang them in our windows to ward off those nasty dreams.  The rest of the class went on a hunt for natural objects that looked like letters of the alphabet, here are some photos, can you spot what we saw?
