    Chippenham games 2016

Each and every year Chippenham puts hard work and effort into organizing a fun day for the year 6’s across Chippenham. This means they have a chance to meet new friends that will be joining them in their new challenges and experiences at secondary.  The games have been running for seven years and has been very successful for all the children, from whether they have met new friends or learnt new skills. This year it was held on the 21st of June on the Tuesday. A very lucky surprise for all the children who took part as a rhythmic gymnast, who will be competing in Rio 2016 Olympics, came to the games to give some team spirit talk to the children.

    There were ten stations including;

    Fencing,

    Obstacle course,

    Tri golf,

    Outside surfing,

    Rhythmic gymnastics,

    Mini Marathon,

    Tuke ball,

    Dancing,

    Wall climbing

    And break & face paints!

Overall the children enjoyed the day and we all were honoured medals and the gymnast gave us signatures on the T- shirts we were given that morning.

  • Flower Arranging

    Flower Arranging

On  17th of June 2016 Amberley, Abi, Josie and Libbi made beautiful flower arrangements for Bromham Carnival.  Carole Myers from St Nicholas Church came across with everything we needed to help create a stunning arrangement.  She taught us about putting groups of 3 or 1 into the arrangement and that they needed to be spread out for impact. We used lilies, roses, daisies and even some herbs to create or arrangement, which was on display in the church over the carnival weekend. We hope that we will be able to set up a flower arranging club now to make the arrangements for worship each week.

  • Fruity Fridays

Sun 19 Jun 2016 Amberley Brown

    Fruity Friday

Now, on the next three Fridays we will be serving fresh fruit at break time for twenty pence per pot.  This is to encourage children to try a wide range of fruit and to encourage them to have a healthy snack at breaktime.  Remember they we are only allowed fruit or vegetables at breaktime, no sugary snack or high fat snacks like sweets or crisps.

As children we should be eating 7 portions of fruit and vegetables everyday - not 5 like adults. This is because our bodies are growing and they need a wide range of vitamins to stay fit and strong.  It is also important to eat a range of different colours, different colours usually have different vitamins, so we should try to eat a rainbow of fruit and veg.

Today was a real success making £9.80 ready to buy our healthy fruit for next week. There will be posters around the school with further info. go on, be brave, try something new. You never know, you might like it!

  • Open Day

Fri 10 Jun 2016 Amberley Brown & Libbi Benham

    Open day

On Friday the 10th of June, we welcomed visitors to the school to celebrate the queens 90th birthday.

Everybody dressed in the wonderful colours the British flag brings: red, white and blue.

Many pupils from thorn class set up their own stalls and sold many handmade crafts and cakes. After lunch many people (parents, grandparents, people from around the village) came pouring into the school grounds to watch and join in with rounders, an active sport that all the children enjoy.

After rounders the visitors watched the amazing performances from the children. This included; three songs performed by the whole school alongside individual acts showcasing their talents at singing, playing the recorder, piano and many more!

We hope you enjoyed the open day if you joined in with the fun!

    Thank you
