  • Willow Class Transition Day

Tue 12 Jul 2016 Mrs Warren

On Tuesday I had the absolute pleasure of meeting my new class and spending the day with them getting to know them. It was lovely.

We started the day with a game of Class Bingo where we had to find children who had certain things. For example, I discovered that Hannah has a dog! It was a great way for us to get to know each other and the children all enjoyed learning new things about each other.

After a little while we started our All About Me booklets. The children spent some time telling me what they enjoy doing both in school and out of school, who their friends are, about their family and many other things. They all worked so hard.

The final activity we did was our goals for next year. The children each spent some time thinking about what they could do well now and what things they struggle at. We then wrote down on a piece of bunting what our first goal of next year is going to be and decorated it. I am going to display these on a wall in September so the children can be reminded when we come back. I was really proud of how reflective they all were and how sensible their goals are for next year.

I know that the children will all step up to the challenge of being in Willow class next year and I hope they will enjoy it. I am really looking forward to teaching them.

  • Thorn Classes Residential trip 2016

Thu 07 Jul 2016 Amberley Brown and James Farroll

    Our residential

This year on the 4th till the 6th of July we went to Ferny Crofts in the New Forest. The New Forest was originally used as a hunting ground for King William the 1st. Ferny Crofts is an activity centre with challenges scattered around the site - from things like Frisbee golf to mega absail. Some of the most liked activities were raft building and the zip wire.

The activities we also completed were:

    Circus skills,

    Aero ball,

    Obstacle course,

    Mega climb,

    Leap of faith

    And tomahawk throwing.

Overall the children had an extremely fun challenge and didn’t want to leave.

  • Our trip to the Link Centre

Thu 07 Jul 2016 Emily Nicholls

Our trip to the link centre

As Thorn Class were on residential, the rest of the school went to the link centre in Swindon to go trampolining and ice skating. The children were all very excited because it was a new experience.

First of all we went trampolining at better extreme. There was everything, from dodge ball to basketball a fast track and a pit. After 1 hour of fun our session was over.

Our second activity was ice skating, after lunch we were raring to go. When we got on the rink everyone tried their best to stay up right. There were penguins and snowmen to help the children round. Even some of the teachers needed help. Unfortunately the trip came to an end, we were all exhausted.
